WFGS is a GymMark accredited club

Welcome to the website of WFGS

Wyre Forest Gymnastics School has been providing gymnastics in the Wyre Forest area for over 20 years. During those years the club has gone from strength to strength and is now providing quality gymnastics classes for over 300 children and adults.

Why Gymnastics?

Gymnastics is part of the school National Curriculum and has been highlighted by Sports Coach UK as an early specialisation sport. Basic gymnastics provided the backbone for all physical activity - particularly the ABC's - Agility, Balance and Co-ordination.

It is widely agreed that gymnastics, along with dance, is one of the most important sports for children to take part in as it encourages discipline, self control and physical fitness in a fun environment. Gymnastics also encourages children to push themselves to achieve.

Why should I choose WFGS for my child?

WFGS is accredited with GymMark, meaning that it is commited to keeping a high standard. All coaches are qualified to at least level 1 and must ensure that they are working towards the next level. All Volunteers are CRB checked and everyone involved with the day to day running of the club has attended or plans to attend child protection courses. As part of GymMark we also have a welfare officer. Please find her details on our contacts page.

What will my child learn?

At WFGS Gymnasts progress at their own speed, through the British Gymnastics Proficiency Awards. At present this means complete beginners start with badge 8 where they learn basic shapes and body management, and work their way through to badge 1, where they learn more difficult skills.
Once the proficiency awards are completed, the gymnasts continue into the advanced classes and learn more complex skills such as backflips.
