Volunteering at WFGS
Volunteer co-ordinator - Marie Carrigan
Volunteer Award
WFGS has its very own volunteer award scheme. This award is aimed at our new trainee coaches.
How do you get the award?
2 day course - The Volunteer course itself is run over 2 days. You must attend both days in order to be eligable to receive the award, if you cannot attend one of the days you will be invited to one at a later date.
On the course you will learn some of the basics of coaching and how to physically support the skills you will be asked to assist with.
Logbook On completion of day 2 you will be issused with a logbook which should be left in the box at the gym. There are several worksheets to fill in which will be done on the course, but the main reason for the logbooks is to record your hours each time you coach. The coach in charge of the session will sign your logbook for you. In order to be eligable for the award you must complete 10 hours coaching.
What do you get?
Once the course is completed, the logbook completely filled in and 10 hours coaching done you will receive a badge and certificate at a special awards ceremony.
What's next?
When you have received the award, keep your logbook at the gym and continue to record your hours. For every 50 hours you volunteer, you will receive a Certificate on behalf of English Gymnastics and a gift voucher from WFGS.

Volunteer rewards
At WFGS we are committed to rewarding our volunteers. Anyone who volunteers for anything, be it helping out at a competition or helping to clean the gym, will receive a certificate from English Gymnastics and a small token of our appreciation.
Volunteer logbooks - All qualified volunteer coaches are issued with small yellow volunteer logbooks. These are similar to the volunteer award logbooks. Every time 25 hours are logged a certificate and gift voucher will be presented.
